Have you ever noticed in movies that they go out of their way to show who the bad guys are? They usually dress differently, they smoke, and they get their own theme music that is more ominous than the good guys (think: “The Imperial March,” Darth Vader’s theme from Star Wars). There is also a noticeable difference between those that know Christ and those that don’t… at least there SHOULD be. However, we are the ones that stand out as different.
In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus talks about having to let things and people go. There is a divide. As followers of Christ, we don’t follow the culture. We follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When everyone is living for the temporal, we live for the eternal. We may not have our own theme song or cool outfits, but people should recognize that we are different because of Whom we serve.
