The Chapstick

Have you ever finished a thing of Chapstick before losing it or forgetting it in the laundry? I think I’ve successfully finished one in my entire life. I told everyone for a week straight that I had actually finished one because I was so proud of myself. Once I can’t find one, I typically check my pocket from the previous day before declaring it lost and buying another one. Luckily for us, God doesn’t do that.

Like the lost sheep or coin in the Gospel this weekend, God would go out of His way to find that tube of Chapstick. He’d drop what He was doing and turn the entire house upside down because that Chapstick (like the sheep or the coin) represents us. He doesn’t want a new one. It doesn’t matter if it’s almost finished, seemingly expendable, or anything else. He finds value in each and every one of us no matter what’s in our past (or present).
