I know it’s summer, so maybe you’ve forgotten what it’s like September through May, but do you ever feel like you’re just so busy you can’t even breathe? In a typical week, most of us try to cram school, sports, (home)work, family time, a social life, etc. into seven days. Somewhere in there, we try to set aside an hour for Mass. Needless to say, we’re busy.
None of those things are inherently bad. School is important. Sports, fitness, and fun are important. Family time and a social life are important. Just like everything Martha was doing for Jesus in Sunday’s Gospel was important. She was being hospitable, took Him in, and served Him. All good things. But, she was upset that her sister was just sitting, listening to Jesus, while she was doing all the work. Yet, we all need time to pause, sit, and listen. Take some time to do that this week, and make Mass a priority.
