Whether we’re receiving report cards or annual reviews at work, there are constant reminders of passed accomplishments (or failures...). Jesus said, "No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God." We need to keep our eyes looking ahead and focused on Christ and His mission for us, but it’s so easy to get distracted with our past or the things around us.

When using the plow, farmers place objects at the end of the field as a marker to help keep them going in a straight line. Looking back, to the side, or only a few feet in front can cause them to till the crooked rows in the soil. If we get distracted, we veer off the path. Similarly, we need to keep our eyes on the prize—heaven, which is eternity with Jesus.
