The Temptation

Temptation is everywhere… ESPECIALLY during Lent! Have you noticed that the second you give something up, it’s like the only thing you can think about? Or on Fridays, all of a sudden the only thing you want to eat is a nice steak? That’s just the way it works. Thankfully, we’re not alone. No, Jesus didn’t have to struggle with His desire for chocolate the second He gave it up (ok… I can’t honestly say that I know for sure, but probably). He was tempted, however, by the same Tempter who tries to break us.

Jesus was tempted by the devil, who we learn knows the Bible (God’s Word) probably a little better than most of us do. It was God’s own words that he used to try to lure Christ. You think YOU have it rough. Yet, Christ endured. Christ can and will sustain us during our fasting. In fact, that’s why we do it.
